History

FullWell Baptist Church was born from a powerful vision bestowed upon Rev. Dr. Baron N. Hopkins in May 2012, as he stood on the embankment awaiting deployment to Afghanistan. Inspired by John 4:5-15, the vision depicted a church with a well that would never run dry, symbolizing an everlasting source of spiritual nourishment.

After completing his military deployment, Dr. Hopkins spent several years in prayer and contemplation before feeling the divine call to establish FullWell Ministries. In late June 2020, during the tumultuous period marked by the global COVID-19 pandemic, he took the monumental step of transitioning from his two-decade-long service in the United Methodist Church to start a new ministry.

The initial gathering for FullWell took place at a dining room table, where a committee of eight individuals began to formalize the church's structure. With their collective effort, FullWell Ministries was officially birthed. The inaugural worship service was held on the first Sunday of July 2020 at the Wicomico County Youth and Civic Center in Salisbury, Maryland. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the church experienced remarkable growth.

In order to take the church into a credible journey from FullWell Ministries, Dr. Hopkins was led to be ordained by the Progressive Baptist Association of the Eastern Shore INC., on September 12, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Salisbury, Maryland.

Embracing modern technology, Bible studies and new member classes were conducted online, as well as at the Chipman Cultural Center allowing the church to remain accessible to all during these unprecedented times. The church’s commitment to fostering a strong community while navigating the challenges of the pandemic helped it to continue thriving and expanding its reach.
